Beware of the Duduk !!!

Beware of the Duduk set out to bring the duduk and its music into the 21st century — without forgetting tradition and without ignoring the present. Alongside pieces from the Armenian musical tradition, sometimes in independent and horizon-expanding arrangements, the project breathes a sense of departure and renewal into the instrument.

The ensemble leads the duduk onto paths it has rarely taken before: blues, jazz, baroque echoes and African folk elements broaden the musical spectrum across genres. A special guest of the quartet around André Meisner, Hovhannes Margaryan, Giuseppe Mautone and Achim Tang — Improviser in Residence in Moers in 2011 — is the internationally renowned duduk player Vardan Hovanissian from Belgium.
