Kozmic Trio
Balkan folklore meets jazz. Jazz meets chanson. Chanson encounters Eastern music — and in the end they say: “We really should do something together.”
Kozmic Trio does exactly that in a highly creative way. The ensemble does not stop at national borders or language barriers; along the way it opens up new categories for understanding music. All three musicians are rooted in jazz, while keeping the door wide open to everything else the musical world has to offer.
Imke Johanne Spöring, an experienced musical traveller, brings her agile soprano voice, her compositions and her natural way with languages and cultures into the project. André Meisner contributes the unmistakable sound of the duduk, an Armenian folk instrument whose singing, warm tone immediately evokes a sense of travel. Matthias Dymke explores the piano’s sonic extremes, sensitively connecting all these influences. The common thread is simple: to create touching, authentic music — the kind that makes borders unnecessary.
