Kreatur

Reinventing the saxophone with effects and live looping

Kreatur

Kreatur is the result of years of searching and experimenting with the question of how saxophone playing can be expanded through effects and live looping — creating layered musical contexts live, in real time and with spontaneous control.

The saxophone becomes a sonic chameleon. Its electronic garment allows numerous metamorphoses of sound: colouring and filling the music with chords, spreading deep, powerful basses, surrounding the listener with atmospheric soundscapes, and generating beats and percussive elements through striking, scratching and tapping noises. The solo instrument mutates and multiplies into its own full-band accompaniment — ranging from rock-driven grooves to free cascades, collages and complex composed spheres.

The music is completed by powerful visual support: Sven Feller and Ralf Schorneck, aka Visualitätenkabinett Erika, unfold the visual world of Kreatur across their screens — visual compositions that complete the musical experience.
